Wilton Favor
How much of the candy melts will I need? (2 parter here guys...)?
I'm making my own lollipops for favors for my wedding. As of right now I'm looking at about 250 lollipops. How many packages of the Wilton Candy Melts will I need for this many? (If I decide to go with them...see below.)
ALSO...I'm not 100% that I want to use the Wilton melts for these. I personally don't care for the taste of them at all. I'm considering just melting the chocolate (plain chocolate from the store) and mixing in shortening or paraffin, like you would for buckeye candies. Would this work for in a lollipop mold as well? I know it works for buckeyes, because I make them every christmas...
Just to let you guys know, my wedding is about a year and nine months away, so I have plenty of time to try stuff out with this.

Ewwww don't use Wilton or wax for your wedding! It's way too important. I highly recommend using Chocoley Bada Bing Bada Boom Candy Melts. They're easy to use (like Wilton) but taste about 10,000 times better (like couverture chocolate). Once you try them you'll never go back.
As far as the quantity.... it depends on the exact dimensions of your mold. Using measurements in inches (for each cavity) multiply length x width x depth x .704. That will give you the amt of chocolate you need per piece. Then multiply that buy 250.
